Informal Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Danube Region (Bucharest, 7- 8 November 2011)

On 7 and 8 November 2011 Bucharest plays host to the Informal Meeting of Foreign Ministers from the Danube Region, an event aimed at conveying the political will, at the highest level, in relation to the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region and at facilitating dialogue and cooperation between the participating states, to the end of ensuring the implementation of macro-regional development projects and initiatives in the ensuing period.

The meeting, to be chaired by Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi and the Austrian Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister Michael Spindelegger, will be held under the patronage of the President of Romania.

Expected to attend the informal session of foreign ministers on 7 November 2011, in Bucharest, are representatives of the diplomacies of Danubian countries, who will approach sustainable development in the Danube region as an engine of economic growth and facilitator of cultural exchanges.

The session devoted to the foreign ministers of countries in the Danube region will be followed, on 8 November 2011, by a Bucharest/Danube Forum rallying representatives of the civil society, business milieus and the academia in the region’s states.

The event marks one year since the Bucharest Summit (8 November 2010), which established aspects in connection with the major directions taken into account in developing the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.

The meeting will be held in the conference rooms at Intercontinental Hotel.
