The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that on January 8th, 2017, two Romanian citizens and the wife of one of them, of Yemeni nationality, were safely evacuated from Yemen on Sayyoun - Amman - Athens - Bucharest path.
Throughout the journey, the two Romanian citizens were in permanent contact with the Embassy of Romania in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, who monitored the movement.
The representatives of the Romanian Embassy in Amman, in permanent coordination with the structures of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs involved, and the support of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Yemen in Romania, offered permanent consular assistance for the repatriation by plane of the three persons, finding optimal ways of evacuation, issuing the travel documents and ensuring boarding formalities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues its efforts to safely evacuate the Romanian citizens from the Republic of Yemen and remains in permanent contact both with them and with all competent authorities in the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates its request addressed to Romanian citizens who find themselves in conflict areas to contact Romania's missions in the territory and register their presence so that they can receive assistance and consular protection and also to access the information provided via the "Travel safely" application, which can be downloaded on any smartphone, and the SMS alert service, corresponding to the "One SMS can save your life!" information campaign.
