The Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers that it is completely irrelevant to invoke the component of the Deveselu anti-missile shield in the current context of INF, since the Deveselu anti-missile system is not covered by the INF Treaty. The MFA once again considers that aggressive rhetoric is unjustified and counterproductive.

In addition, the MFA's position on NATO's ballistic missile defense system (NATO BMD), of which the Deveselu facility is an integral part, has not changed.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly stated that the concept of the NATO anti-missile shield has a purely defensive character and represents an action proportionate to the current threats that respect all international commitments.

The Russian Federation received all the necessary assurances and explanations both from Romania and from NATO in this regard.
