The Meeting of Minister Delegate for European Affairs, George Ciamba, with the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Bucharest, David Saranga, on March 4, 2019. The talks with the Israeli ambassador concerned the excellent bilateral relations between the two states, based on a natural partnership, strengthened in the 70 years of uninterrupted diplomatic ties. Moreover, the two officials analysed future cooperation prospects, underlining the interest of both parties in continuing the political, diplomatic, economic and sectoral cooperation, through mutual visits to Romania and the State of Israel.

The minister delegate for European affairs underlined Romania’s special efforts over the past years with respect to acknowledging the past and condemning the negation of the Holocaust and antisemitism; he mentioned that, throughout the Presidency of the EU Council, combating antisemitism is one of Romania’s priorities. Against this background, he referred to the conference dedicated to countering this phenomenon, entitled “The Fight against antisemitism: a common approach to better protect Jewish communities in Europe – from policy to action”, organised in Brussels on February 7, 2019.

The meeting was also an opportunity to exchange views on regional and global developments of common interest. The minister delegate for European affairs briefly reviewed the priorities of the Romanian Presidency of the EU Council, reiterating the special attention paid to developments in its southern neighbourhood.
