Expo Dubai 2020


On the occasion of the 154th session of the BIE General Assembly, that took place in November 2013, the city of Dubai was selected to host the 2020 world exhibition, winning against the other competitor cities: Ekaterinburg, Sao Paolo and Izmir. At the exhibition with the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” which will take place between 20 October 2020 and 10 April 2021, a number of over 180 countries and over 25 million visitors are expected.

The organizers of the world exhibition grant a particular importance to this event, which will coincide with the 50 years anniversary of the establishment of the United Arab Emirates and have announced a very ambitious preparation programme, which includes infrastructure investment on the exhibition site and adjacent areas of around 6 billion USD and ample activities of international promotion of the event, expecting that over 70% of the visitors will come from outside the UAE region. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that Expo Dubai 2020 is the first world exhibition that takes place in the MENASA area (Middle East, North Africa, South Asia). The United Arab Emirates represent an important economic, financial and innovation hub at regional level and on a global scale and it is foreseen that they will continue to register remarkable economic, technological and human development progress in the future. The city of Dubai represents the main gate of entrance of goods in the Gulf region and in the Arab World, a region with an important demographic growth and a continuously expanding economy.
