The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that Mr. Cristian Marius Bădescu has been appointed Representative with special assignments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on energy security.

During his term, the Romanian diplomat will support the dialogue of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the internal and external partners on energy security files and he will contribute, in collaboration with the relevant departments of the MFA and the line ministries with attributions in the field, to the elaboration and promotion, in a coherent way, of Romania's vision and action in the energy field, at regional, European and transatlantic level.

Also, Cristian Bădescu will take into account the evolutions in the domestic and international energy sector and will ensure the support by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the national objectives in the energy field, both for the realization of the regional projects of interest for Romania, as well as for obtaining the support of the external partners in the implementation of the Romanian projects in this field.

The representative with special tasks for energy security will follow Romania's practice of the European context defined by the EU Energy Union Strategy, following the five pillars, including the increasing pronounced interaction between the objectives in the field of energy security and the priorities derived from the approach of the energy-climatic changes file.

"I am confident that the appointment of Mr. Cristian Marius Bădescu as Representative with special assignments on energy security will contribute to strengthening the integrated vision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding Romania's involvement in regional energy projects of major interest at European level, as well as to invigorate dialogue with our external partners”, stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ramona-Nicole Mănescu.
