Press release

Thursday, 3 February, Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor Baconschi attended the launch of the brand “Confindustria Romania”.

Also attending the event were members of the diplomatic corps, Italian and Romanian businesspersons, and media representatives.

In his address Minister Baconschi spoke of the constant cooperation between Romania and Italy and noted the contribution of the Italian businesspersons’ community in the Romanian economic context. The Minister of Foreign Affairs also encouraged a diversification of economic cooperation domains between the two states, and mentioned that “alongside the already established cooperation domains, like textiles, constructions and real estate, there is a range of opportunities and resources in a number of various areas which are worth developing and which can boost the Romanian–Italian economic partnership.”

“Romania should become increasingly attractive for medium-and long-term investment in fields that bring added value or which require a transfer of elaborate know-how,” Minister Baconschi added. The head of Romanian diplomacy encouraged Italian businesspersons to invest in domains like transportation, renewable energy, IT, agriculture or finances.

The event marked the Association of Italian Enterprises in Romania (Unimpresa) joining the Confindustria system, which is the most important system of representation for industrial and consumer goods and services businesses in Italy. Unimpresa Romania's membership counts over 700 associations, with a total of 130,000 employees.
