Conference on Mediation in the OSCE Area (Bucharest, 15-16 July 2013)


The Romanian Ministry for Foreign Affairs is honoured to announce the organization of The Conference on Mediation in the OSCE Area that will take place in the Palace of Parliament, Bucharest, on 15 and 16 of July 2013.

The Conference is organized by the Romanian Ministry for Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation and the Conflict Prevention Centre of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Secretariat.

The Conference on Mediation in the OSCE Area is open to practitioners, decision-makers in the field of mediation from OSCE participating States, all OSCE Partners for Cooperation, the UN, OSCE and other regional organizations, NGOs, academic community.

The participating States and OSCE Partners for Co-operation, both representatives to the OSCE and from the capitals, OSCE officials, as well as experts from other international organizations and civil society are expected to contribute to a comprehensive exchange of views on the role of mediation in all phases of the conflict cycle, the challenges faced in this domain and to explore ways to strengthen mediation efforts within the OSCE area as part of the global endeavours to maintain peace and security through mediation.
