Seville World Exhibition 1992 "The era of Discovery" Spain

World exhibition was held on an area of 215 hectares, having allocated a budget of approx. 121.6 billion pesetas. There have been 112 official participants (countries and international organizations) and the exhibition was visited by 41.8 million visitors. Spain hosted the summer Olimpic Games in 1992 in Barcelona.

The Participation of Romania was organized by a team including officials of the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Trade and Tourism, Romanian Academy, Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Interior, Union of Architects, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, etc. Actions regarding the achievement of the exhibition were made by ARTEXPO (National Office for Documentation and Exhibitions in Art), with a budget of 260 millions( lei) (equivalent to approx. 650,000 Euro [ECU) and 390 thousand dollars.

Taejon International Exhibition from 1993 "The chalenge of a new road to developement" South Korea

International exhibition was held on an area of 90 ha, having allocated a budget of approx. 2 trillion won. There have been 141 official participants (countries and international organizations) and the exhibition was visited by 14 million visitors. Korea hosted the summer Olympic Games in 1988 in Seoul.

The participation of Romania was organized by a team including representatives of Ministry of Research and Technology, Ministry of Public Information, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Tourism etc. Actions on the achievement of the exhibition were made by ARTEXPO (National Office for Documentation and Exhibitions in Art), with a budget of 509 million lei (equivalent to approx. 575,000Euro [ECU]). The commissioner for this exhibition was appointed Dan Ioan Popescu and the pavilion architecture was created by architect Dorin Stefan.

Lisbon International Exhibition 1998 "The ocean, a heritage for the future" Portugal

International exhibition was held on an area of 50 ha, having allocated a budget of approx. 76 billion escudos. There have been 155 official participants (countries and international organizations) and the exhibition was visited by 11 million visitors.

 Romania's participation was organized by a team including representatives of Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Research and Technology, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (members with veto rights), Department of Public Information of the Government, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Waters, Forests and Environment Protection, Romanian Academy, Chamber of Commerce and Industry Administration Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, etc.

Actions on the achievement of the exhibition were made by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, with a budget of 8 billion (equivalent to approx 800,000 Euro [ECU]).

Hanover World Exhibition 2000 "Humankind, Nature, Technology” Germany

World exhibition was held on an area of 160 hectares, having allocated a budget of approx.  10,2 billion DM. There have been 155 official participants (countries and international organizations) and the exhibition was visited by 18 million visitors.

Romania’s participation was organized by a team including representatives of Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Research and Technology, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (members with veto rights), the Ministry of Culture, the General Secretariat of Government, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Waters and Environment Protection, Romanian Academy, Chamber of Commerce and Industry Administration Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, etc.. Actions on the achievement of the exhibition were made by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, with a budget of 150 billion (equivalent to approx. 7 million Euros). General Commissioner for this exhibition was Sorin Fodoreanu and the pavilion architecture was created by the architect Doru Comşa. Romania’s pavilion was visited by a number of approx. 3 million visitors.

Aichi World Exhibition 2005 "Nature's Wisdom" Japan

World exhibition was held on an area of 173 ha. There have been 125 official participants (countries and international organizations) and the exhibition was visited by 22 million visitors.

Romania’s participation was organized by a team including representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economy and Trade, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Water and Environment, Ministry of Education and Research, Ministry of Administration and Interior, Ministry of Transport Construction and Tourism, etc. Actions on the achievement of the exhibition were made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with a budget of 299 billion (equivalent to approx. 8 million Euros). Commissioner General for this exhibition was Ferdinand Nagy and the architecture flag was created by the architect Dorin Stefan. Romania’s flag was visited by a number of approx. 2 million visitors. President Traian Băsescu visited Romania's Pavilion, during the official visit carried out in Japan in June 2005.

International Exhibition Zaragoza 2008 "Water and Sustainable Development" Spain
International exhibition was held on an area of 25 ha. There have been 105 official participants (countries and international organizations), and the exhibition was visited by 5.6 million visitors.

Romania's participation was coordinated by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and was not established by the normative act approving the participation of an interdepartmental working group. The budget available was 5 million Euros. Commissioners for the EXPO 2008 Zaragoza were Daniel Popescu, followed by Attila Demeter.
