Reception by State Secretary Mihail Dobre of the Ambassador agréé of Panama, Aymard Jimenez Granda, to present copies of his credentials

State Secretary for Global Affairs Mihail Dobre received today, 13 January 2014, Aymard Jimenez Granda, Ambassador agréé of the Republic of Panama to Romania (resident in Athens), to present copies of his credentials.

The Romanian official wished the Panamanian official full success in the activity he would carry out during his mission in Romania and assured him of the entire support of the Romanian authorities for his demarches in favour of developing the cooperation between Romania and Panama. In his turn, the Panamanian Ambassador presented the development plans implemented by his country’s authorities, in the context of building a second canal, besides the well-known Panama Canal, as well as the cooperation opportunities deriving from that.

The two officials exchanged views on the current situation and the prospects of the bilateral relations, and expressed interest in lending more dynamism to the Romanian-Panamanian collaboration, both with respect to political dialogue and in point of specific sectorial cooperation. As areas of interest, they mentioned shipbuilding, IT or the manufacturing of medical equipment. Education, health care and culture are other such fields holding out an important potential for bilateral cooperation.

During the audience, the interlocutors also discussed topics related to cooperation at the United Nations, including mutual support of candidacies in the elections to bodies and institutions of the world organization.
