Welcoming by Foreign Minister Teodor Meleșcanu of Spain's accredited Ambassador, Manuel Larrotcha Parada, for the presentation of copies of accreditation letters

Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor Meleșcanu received today, on 31 October 2018, Manuel Larrotcha Parada, Spain's accredited Ambassador to Bucharest, to present copies of accreditation letters.

On this occasion, the two interlocutors appreciated the excellent quality of the Romanian-Spanish relations, reflected in the very dynamic cooperation in the fields of economic, defense, local public administration, internal affairs, education and culture, which give substance to the Romanian-Spanish Strategic Partnership and referred to future actions aimed at strengthening the bilateral political-diplomatic dialogue.

The two officials welcomed the role of the Romanian community in Spain, the largest foreign community, as an example of successful integration and a positive contribution to the Spanish society and economy, as well as the constructive attitude of the Spanish authorities towards the Romanian community in Spain.

The interlocutors also had an exchange of views on the foreign policy priorities of the future Presidency of Romania at the Council of the European Union. In this context, the Romanian side underlined the offering of a European perspective to the countries of the Western Balkans by continuing the EU's enlargement policy in this region. The Head of the Romanian diplomacy also said that the Eastern Neighborhood would be a priority.

Minister Teodor Meleșcanu wished success to Ambassador Larrotcha Parada in fulfilling his mandate in Romania, expressing confidence for good future cooperation.
