Welcoming by Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor Meleșcanu of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Appointed Ambassador to Romania, Slaviša Čeranić

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Teodor Meleșcanu, welcomed Bosnia and Herzegovina's appointed ambassador, Slaviša Čeranić, for the presentation of credentials, on June 12th, 2019.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Meleșcanu, wished him success in fulfilling his ambassadorial mandate in Romania and assured him of full readiness to intensify bilateral dialogue.

The discussion allowed for a review of the various levels of the bilateral relationship and the common desire to intensify cooperation between the two states has been emphasized, mainly in areas such as cooperation within international and regional organizations, digitization, university exchanges and cooperation of the chambers of commerce and the business environment.

The Romanian official reconfirmed the Romanian Government's firm political support for the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina and reiterated that the enlargement of the European Union is one of the European priorities for Romania, which has also been reaffirmed throughout the presidency of the EU Council.

In this context, the Romanian official congratulated the progress made in Sarajevo during its European course, including the European Commission’s within the 2019 Enlargement Package of the Country Opinion on Bosnia and Herzegovina which showed the steps to be taken for obtaining concrete progress in terms of EU membership.

Minister Teodor Meleșcanu urged the continuation of the program of reforms and dialogue between the main political forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina to implement the results of the October 2018 general elections and the formation of new governments at the central and entity level.

Ambassador Slaviša Čeranić thanked Romania for its support on the European path of BiH and expressed confidence in intensifying bilateral co-operation during his term in Romania.
